چکیده
Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.), as an edible flower, has long provided array of positive effects on human health. This benefit is a result phenolic compounds that are naturally present mainly in the calyx. Plentiful medicinal remedies and functional foods based this flower available worldwide, supported by studies recent decades. paper aims to provide comprehensive review composition, biological activity, beneficial health roselle. was performed accordance with Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. A structured search published literature phenolics compositions roselle required prior evaluation validity reported analytical methods. Reliable identification quantification can be achieved employing proper extraction separation With ample alternative methods discussed here, aid comprehending selecting most appropriate method particular study. The applications highlighted indicated acids, flavonoids, their derivatives have been identified quantified range activities It also disclosed composition concentration vary due growth factors, cultivars, environmental influence. Finally, apart from research progress carried out during last ten years, proposed relevant future works.

Using MEDLINE and SCOPUS databases, a review of the literature from the pioneering study of 1991 until 2010 was performed on the effects on biological models of Hibiscus sabdariffa L. roselle calyx, its extracts mainly in polar solvents, or pure components found in extracts, as well as their possible relationship to these effects. Three relevant effects on lipid metabolism, antihypertensive act...
متن کاملThe Phenolic Compounds in Berries: Beneficial Effects on Human Health
The phenolic compounds in fruits are secondary plant metabolites and are mainly associated with the nutritional as well as the sensorial properties of fruits. These compounds not only affect the aroma of the fruits, but are also found to have profound effects on human health due to their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effects. Berry fruits, including blueberry, cranberry, rasp...

Consumers are demanding novel beverages that are healthier, convenient and have appealing consumer acceptance. The objectives of this study were to investigate the effects of adding grape polyphenols and the influence of presenting health claims on the sensory acceptability of wines. Fresh red sorrel calyces were fermented into wines. The total soluble solids of the pectinase-treated sorrel pur...
